Part of the council’s Becontree Forever programme, the Winter Lantern Parade will take place on Chitty’s Lane to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first houses built on that road on the estate, followed by a spectacular firework display. The parade, organised in partnership with Creative Barking & Dagenham, will involve the local schools and residents around the area. The parade featured 6,000 people and 400 people who had made illuminated big-head puppets and lanterns. Workshops took place with Henry Green, Becontree and Valence primary schools.
